This year was our first year of having Christmas away from family on our own! Jeremy found it to be a better use of his leave time to take leave in January for a late Christmas at home, instead of wasting the days he would be given off regardless. It was so strange not being with our family and friends, and to barely have any snow! We had a lot of ice instead :)
On Christmas Eve we baked sugar cookies and watched a TON of movies together. It was the ultimate lazy day :) 
On Christmas Day, we woke up at 6am (our dogs doing) and opened our stockings and presents to eachother.
Jeremy gave me $30 of iTunes money, a Target gift card (He knows me so well - I am terribly obsessed with that store), the movie The Invention of Lying, some new jeans that I've been wanting, and a external hard drive for my slowly dying computer. I was really excited about that last one.. because we aren't planning on getting me another computer since we still have Jeremy's, and I really was worried that I would lose all of my pictures and whatnot.
I gave Jeremy the newest Call of Duty Xbox game - Black Ops, a Craftsman toolchest, and some new tools.
After we opened our presents we skyped with my family back home in NY. It was so fun being able to still watch everyone open their presents from eachother since that is one of my favorite things about Christmas. I can hardly wait to fly home and hug them!
After we skyped, we got ready and went to Megan and Scott's (a way sweet couple from our ward) house for a Christmas Day Brunch! They have a little girl named Lizzy and a boy named David who they are adopting. They are seriously the sweetest kids ever. Their adoption is finalized on January 3rd. Scott's Mom was there, and they also had Emily, Chad and their two kids Abby and Deacon over, who are from our ward as well.
It was so delicious and so much fun! We had homemade waffles with homemade whipped cream and strawberries, homemade cinnamon rolls, and a sausage and egg breakfast casserole. We were stuffed to the brim when we left there! After we ate we played this new hunting game on their Wii which was really fun. Jeremy helped the little boys shoot and they LOVED it.
After brunch, we came home and took a short nap, then headed to another friends house for Christmas dinner! We went to Emily and Alan McGregor's house. Emily works with Jeremy in his squadron and her husband Alan is also in the Air Force. A bunch of other people came that we didn't know already so it was fun to get to know them. We ate and ate and ate.. probably more than we did on Thanksgiving! Emily is a GREAT cook! She even let us take leftovers home which was awesome :)
All in all we had a great Christmas day, even if it was a little weird for us to not be home. I am super grateful that we have friends here that we can spend the holidays with! Our friends are our family away from family that is for sure.
